There was some cracking Junior sprinting at the Superdrome last night during the running of PACC's Seight Sports Sprint Wars. The conditions were perfect for some great qualifying times, with most Juniors beating and in some cases absolutely smashing their 200m times from Junior States.

With the qualifying done, the field was split into 4 groups and some really close Match Sprinting ensued. In the A-group, Elliot (dare I say Sky) Walker won all three round robin races and continued that form into the final with a close win against Jacob Koop. In the B-group, some smart tactical racing by KCC's Zac Marriage saw him make the final but it was the fastest qualifier in that group, Aston Freeth who took the win. Wil Holmes, a previous winner of Junior Sprint Wars socks was the dominant C-group rider and was too good in the all-SCC final against Jamie Anderson. The D-group were all very evenly matched and with the limited gearing it was always going to be very close. NCC's only representative in the event, Annabelle Kelly, made the final on a count-back against PACC's Wil Brown, and with only one hundredth separating their qualifying times, it was a gutsy ride by both, with Will holding on to take the win.

Special mention also goes to PACC's Jacqueline Voltz who set the fastest female qualifying time.

Thanks to all the officials and volunteers who helped run the evening of racing and to the riders and parents for supporting the event. Look out for Tim Loft's photo album of the event - we will link to it as soon as it's available.
