Port Adelaide CC held the second cyclo-cross race in the southern hemisphere post Covid-19 shutdown under modified conditions (the first was Cyclo-Cross Hawke's Bay in New Zealand a week earlier). The venue was what's now known as 'Goon Bag Reserve' in Port Adelaide.

No spectators, no photographers, no BBQ  - so it was a bit of a soul-less affair with competitors arriving and leaving to rigid timetables to ensure we complied with strict government guidelines on gathering sizes, but things perked up with the judicious use of car horns with riders waiting in the car park encouraging riders on course - reminiscent of a country football match! Kudos to those riders and carers who were able to arrive early to volunteer to set up, and to the riders in last two races of the day to pack-down in wet conditions.

With a severe weather warning including up to 10mm of rain, 50kmh winds and a thunderstorm forecast, race organisers were keeping an eye on the radar, but the weather was mild during set-up with rain starting to steadily fall just in time for racing, with the off camber sections in 'Goon Bag Reserve' becoming slicker as the day went on catching many riders out.  Due to field sizes and to comply with requirements, several grades were split into two to ensure we stayed under the 20 rider bunch cap.

Enjoy your race results in two different, yet equally nerdy formats:

For PACC's Crossmgr results - click here (includes race animations and charts, tag timing to 100th of a second and multiple languages - (except for Men's A CX, times are correct for Griff only)

For Crossresults.com results - click here (and create a login to 'rate that race', check out who's your nemesis across your racing career, and more!)

Our next CX race is scheduled for the 5th July - pending favourable government directions regarding Covid-19. Stay tuned for some closer racing hopefully with spectators permitted!
