Thank you to everyone who provided feedback in the Club's Member Feedback Survey. The information provided will be fundamental to the Board's approach to the Strategic Plan for 2024-2028.
A summary of the feedback can be found here: PACC Member Feedback Summary
Key Themes:
- Respondents identified that PACC has a clear niche in the cycling calendar, delivering CX and Time Trial events. However, delivering social events and track events were not things PACC is seen as doing well.
- There was strong support for PACC to increase its social offerings, time trial events, and cyclocross events.
- There was a call for PACC to improve club identity, presence, and engagement, by delivering more events such as social/club rides and 'come and try' days.
The primary priorities which respondents identified were:
- Delivering/hosting cycling races including club championships;
- Providing pathways for recreational riders to progress to competitive racers;
- Recruiting, developing and supporting volunteers; and
- Junior development and coaching;
Next steps:
The Board has identified four fundamental pillars to delivering on the priorities which you have told us about.
- A calendar of high-quality competitive events across a range of disciplines (CX, TTs, Track, etc)
- A large pool of participants who are engaged in cycling, who can take part in the competitive events;
- A pool of volunteers who are supported to deliver the events and recognised for their actions; and
- A strong sense of club identity.
Each of the four pillars depends on the others. High quality events are not possible without volunteers to run them, and participants to race them. People will not remain engaged in club cycling if there aren't events to take part in, and a sense of community. A vibrant community is required to support and recognise volunteers. Club identity cannot exist without club events, participants and volunteers.
The Board will now prepare a draft Strategic Plan, and circulate this to members for feedback. We will then invite members to take part in an implementation process, where we map out strategies to achieve the four pillars.
The Board has already begun delivering on the social side of things, with the upcoming PACC - PACC Member Ride - Friday Night at the Bay! on 22 November 2024, the PACC - Port Adelaide Christmas Parade and PACC - Christmas Alleycat Scavenger Hunt both on 1 December 2024, and the PACC - PACC Christmas Cruise and Family Ride on 25 December 2024. (Watch out for more social events, including Wendesday Night Groupies from Hanson Reserve, coming soon!)
We're also planning some 'Come and Try' days at Hanson Reserve, with the first scheduled on 17 November 2024. (Details to come).
The CX Calendar for 2025 is taking shape, and PACC is looking to deliver a host of CX races across the calendar.
PACC and AHCC are looking to collaborate on a Time Trial series, with flat, rolling, and hilly courses across a four-race series in early 2025.
We're planning a range of social events across the TDU in 2025, including Roller Frenzy, a CX race during the Tour, and some member pilgrimmages to various race locations.
The PACC Kit Shop will be open in the next few days, and members are encouraged to represent PACC whenever they hit the road.
Finally, the Board is always looking for new ideas, suggestions, and assistance, so if you've got ideas, drop us a line at [email protected].
See you on two wheels!
