For those I haven’t met me, my name is Kelly Fettes and I’ve been a PACC member for 10 years - since I was 15. I came into the sport as a junior that just enjoyed riding a bike. I wasn’t fortunate enough to be a part of any SASI or Cycling SA development programs but I was lucky enough to find an amazingly supportive community among PACC and the friendships I formed within the club with other juniors in a similar position to me truly were formative years for me to continue cycling for the love of the sport and community.

Through the club I raced many Friday night Edwardstowns, a few interclubs and even a few seasons of CX.

Later on I started piloting tandems for vision impaired athletes. PACC has always been incredibly supportive of para athletes and for a long while, were the only club that would provide crucial racing opportunities for para-cyclists. PACC is the home club for at least 90% of SA’s highly successful para cycling contingent and I truly believe this is because of the community first and the largest number of opportunities to race a close second factor.

I’m currently piloting for Candice Kennedy - also a PACC member. We were fortunate enough to make our international debut on the road last year with the Australian Cycling Team. We finished the year ranked as the 5th female tandem overall on the road. We are hungry to improve on this and secure a spot to race at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. In order to do this, we have determined that we will need to purchase a new tandem to be more competitive against the top ranked nations. Unfortunately, Australian road para cyclists need to provide all of their own equipment and the cost of this specialised equipment is a huge barrier to us being able to achieve our goals of reaching the podium. Candice and I have begun fundraising to help us to purchase this new bike. You can read our story in more detail on our Australian Sports Foundation page.

We would really appreciate any support you are able to provide, just getting the word out means a lot to us.

Donations of $2 and more via the Australian Sports Foundation are tax deductible!
