The biggest question in the car park this morning was by how much Chris Harper (Norwood) would break the course record. Conditions were near perfect, overcast, a little humid with a light southerly and only a slight chance of getting pooped on by a Corella, so little surprise that the course record and a number of PBs fell.

To the surprise of many it wasn’t Chris Harper, but young gun Lucas Hoffman (Whyalla) who lit up the course in an eye watering 21:02 at an average 49.81kph, with West Australian Conor Leahy (Peel District) 21:35 and Chris Harper 21:40 rounding out the podium.  Miles Scotson was the previous course record holder with a time of 21:14 set on 4 January 2015.

Jill Seeman (South Coast) 26:12 took a narrow win over Chelsea Symons (Mildura-Coomealla) 26:19, with Gemma Kernich's (Port Adelaide) base building Festive 500 efforts earning her third at 26:41.

Despite COVID19 restrictions, the Red Mill had to draw on their emergency donut supplies, and PACC stragglers participated in post-race conversation from the car park.

Thanks always to the officials and volunteers for a great event - and this week's roving reporter Darren Webb for the words.
