Sunday mornings. Reserved for sleeping in, late breakfasts and lazy mornings spent in PJs. Or, if you're not right in the head, you get up at dawn to punish yourself in the race of truth!

Round 1 of the Zero Friction Cycling PACC ITT Summer Series (phew!) was held on Sunday, on the familiar 17.4 km Outer Harbor circuit. With a forecast predicting temperatures in single digits and fresh Southerly winds, 50 individuals showed up to put themselves to the test.
The chilly air made most warmups an exercise in futility, and a few early drops of rain threatened, but things stayed mostly dry. As usual at Outer Harbor, wind.conditions were testing. A tailwind provided some fast speeds early along the course, but a block headwind soon greeted riders for a long grind to the Largs turnaround. Some tailwind relief was had for a while, before a final battle into the headwind to the finish. Juniors were first off the block on the shorter, 8.4km course.  Our regular juniors were joined by a first timer and had some cracking results.
COVID restrictions meant that a holder is not allowed, so many of the senior riders opted to clip in after starting, with only the top 10 riders choosing to balance themselves using the table provided. Lucas Hoffman (Whyalla CC) showed why he wears number 1 at the time trials setting a time of 21:50, almost a full minute ahead of new comer to our events, Andrew Friebe. Jill Seaman (SCCC) again showed the women how to race a time trial, putting almost 90 seconds into people's champion Gemma Kernich.
Just a reminder to riders - road rules apply throughout the event, from warming up to when you leave.  Please ensure you obey them by wearing a helmet while riding your bike and sticking to the right (left) hand side of the road. SA Police do a great job in providing a presence throughout the event, so we need to be mindful of our own actions.
Big thanks to Will, David, Peter, Mark and Paula, Marshals of ACRM and SASMA for medical.
Entries are open now for Round 2 (Sunday 29 November):  https://entryboss.cc/races/5625
Series tables are posted at https://zerofrictioncycling.com.au/zfc-patt/ . Series points are taken on the best 3 of the 5 rounds, so there's still time to be in it to win it.
