Hector Fletcher 2010: Call for volunteers!
Posted by DanielS on Thu Jul 29, 2010 9:58 am
The Hector Fletcher road races are coming up on the Saturday, 28th August (just over four weeks time!).

We need some volunteers to help run the show, specifically:

* Two accredited traffic marshalls

* Additional corner marshalls (not necessarily accredited: you may direct riders but not control traffic if you are not accredited)

* Judging for the KOM (yes there will be at least one KOM, maybe two!)

* Putting out and collecting signs

The race is at Mt Pleasant and there is racing in the morning and afternoon, so it will be a full day.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are able to help:

Track Racing Tonight CANCELLED
Posted by Gemm on Wed Jul 21, 2010 3:43 pm
Port Adelaide CC's club racing tonight has had to be cancelled due to track unavailability. We have only just been informed of this by the Office of Recreation and Sport less than three hours before racing was to commence. Apparently gaps have opened up under the duck board (blue strip at bottom of the track)

1000 apologies in advance for those riders who travel to the SuperDrome to race tonight. Evil or Very Mad We are attempting to contact regular racers.

Participants wanted for UniSA study

Deb Gent at the University of South Australia is currently conducting a research project at looking at how muscle power changes with ageing:

We are currently looking for volunteers to participate in our study. We require masters cyclists/triathletes aged 35-64 years who are training or competing on a regular basis.

The testing uses three maximal exertion tests on a cycle ergometer and takes approximately one hour. At the completion of testing, participants will be provided with measurements of peak power output and predicted VO2max and a summary of how their results compare to normative values. Obviously there is no charge for this testing service.

PACC wins Sarre Shield

I'm very pleased to announce that PACC was awarded the Sarre Shield at the Cycling SA AGM last night.

What is the Sarre Shield I hear you ask?

Quote:
The Sarre Shield was a trophy donated by Mr Claude Sarre to the then ACUSA in 1949 for "Interclub Competition", and is now presented each year to the winning club at the Cycling SA Annual General Meeting. Mr Sarre was a jeweller in Gawler Place. Points towards the Sarre Shield are earned by riders representing their club at State Championship events. Points are allocated for medal placings only in every individual championship event (both road and
