i dunno, as fast as everyone can sustain without being dropped. most people should be able to sit on about 40km/h if the group has enough people. its only about 30km from ent centre/glenelg/military rd/the mill and its normally a southerly unless its hot. as far as 'training' goes its not that hard.

The work rest ratio does seem to be a bit on the generous side. With the nice weather you've been having, perhaps the pre-bakery loop needs to be extended a bit.
Maybe: Ent, Bay, OuterH, Mill? The adcvantage of this is you keep the social kilometers rolling until you get to Grange Road and then start to open the taps all the way to OH. From there its a social roll back to the Mill picking up the stragglers. Stragglers just need to be aware they need to sacrifice either distance or Mill time to rejoin the group.
cheers

with the right tools, I can do anything
with the wrong tools, you'll have to give me a minute ... and a new right shoulder ... and a new upper spine ...

going back to your comment 'grg' it is also not really worth organising a faster 'training' type group ride if only three people are keen... so hopefully there is a decent group of 6-10 people who are keen for that
maybe its best to just leave this ride as-is and do the actual training elsewhere? if there are only 8 people total rocking up its a bit stupid to try and split in two i guess.
