Wheel building
I'm willing to share my skills around and teach people to wheel build. Is anyone out there interested?
I have taught a few people on a 1-on-1 basis but thought a small groups might be easier and more amusing. Wheel building gets suprisingly hard after a few beers hence the amusement! I have lost count of the number of wheels I have built in the past few years for friends and have had zero complaints or spoke breakages so I must be ok!
Basically, think of your 'dream' hubs, rims and spokes, and then think of the satisfaction of building a new wheelset yourself, properly. That includes chinese cheapie carbon rims if that tickles your fancy. Everything from purchase to spoke calculations to the build itself. I'm proposing that if you want to build a pair, you build up the rear one with me, and then do the front one yourself in your own time (since front ones are generally easier) and can help if you get stuck. I am willing to assist with non-basic tools etc like truing stand, dishing tool and spoke tensiometer. BYO spoke key, beer, card table, chair and other consumables. PM me if you're interested.
